Meet Our Chapter

Safe Families for Children of Boise – Treasure Valley is one of the newest Safe Families chapter sites to open! We are committed to serving families in crisis by partnering with local churches and our community to surround those families with caring, compassionate help. Safe Families is a national movement being locally implemented by Lutheran Community Services Northwest (LCS).

Lutheran Community Services embarked on this mission to serve our most vulnerable families in southwest Idaho. Safe Families is needed now more than ever as families across our community face overwhelming challenges. Our team is working tirelessly to create a safety net for desperate families through a community of devoted volunteers who are motivated by faith to keep children safe and keep families intact.

Our Mission: Giving help and hope to families in crisis.

Safe Families for Children gives helps and hope to families  by enlisting volunteers and training host families to provide respite care to children whose families are experiencing a temporary emergency.

Our Vision:   Keep children safe and families intact

Our aim is to engage the community to meet the immediate needs of a child through respite care and family support in order to keep children safe and families intact.

Safe Families for Children Objectives

1) Child Welfare Deflection: Safe Families provides a safe alternative to child welfare custody, thus significantly reducing the number of children entering the child welfare system.

2) Child Abuse Prevention: Providing an overwhelmed and resource-limited parent with a safe, temporary place for their child without threat of losing custody. By offering support, the goal is to avert potential abuse.

3) Family Support and Stabilization: Many parents struggle because of limited social support and unavailable extended family. Many Safe Families volunteers become the extended family for isolated parents.
